The Big Buzz team is comprised of eight core team members who wake up wanting to come to work at our headquarters in Denver, Colorado. Rippling outward from that core team are our trusted contractors with whom we have forged long-standing relationships, allowing us to scale and serve our clients in the spirit of excellence regardless of breadth and depth of the strategy or project.
Wendy O’Donovan Phillips is CEO of Big Buzz, a full-service agency she founded in 2007 to serve healthcare clients nationwide. She and her team are focused on moving communications more quickly and easily to market than other firms. Big Buzz offers more than 50 different marketing tactics, all backed by research and strategy. She is the author of KABOOM! The Method Used by Top Dentists for Explosive Marketing Results and Flourish!: The Method Used by Aging Services Organizations for the Ultimate Marketing Results. She has been honored by the American Marketing Association for excellence in her field, and she has been hired by the American Dental Association as an expert consultant in marketing. She regularly lectures for healthcare organizations and associations like MGMA and LeadingAge, and she and her team regularly attend conferences like MD&M and 10x Medical Device.
One word to describe me, and why: Opportunity. There are opportunities everywhere to create new businesses, grow businesses, create new jobs. Even setbacks are opportunities when we learn from them.
If I was a brand, I would be: Coca-Cola. Refreshing. Classic. High-energy.
In my spare time, I like to: Ski and surf. Have adventures with my sweet husband and darling daughter. Take long walks. Read. Meditate.
Molly Waters is the General Manager at Big Buzz, responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the agency alongside the CEO. She continually works to implement strategic initiatives and reporting systems, maximize human capital and monitor utilization and project profitably. Molly originally started with Big Buzz in 2011 as a copywriting intern after graduating with a degree in Marketing from the University of Denver Daniels College of Business.
One word to describe me, and why: Optimism. Even in the face of challenges, keep things in perspective. See the glass as half full, the light at the end of the tunnel and the bright side of things.
If I was a brand, I would be: Target. Reliable. Organized. Bright.
In my spare time, I like to: Organize and declutter, listen to fashion and beauty podcasts, cuddle with my puppy Finley and root for the San Francisco Giants.
Melinda Gisbert, M.S. is the Client Services Manager at Big Buzz. Melinda received her Master’s Degree in Strategic Leadership in Healthcare from the University of Denver in 2017, and her undergraduate degree in Health Care Management from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Melinda is also affiliate faculty for Metropolitan State University of Denver in the Department of Health Professions, educating the younger demographic about the current and future challenges for healthcare leaders, and where we can work together to provide the highest quality of future care. Melinda is passionate about the healthcare industry and has dedicated her entire education and career to partnering with organizations to ensure they reach and connect with their ideal audience and impact positive change.
One word to describe me, and why: Quirky. I enjoy making people laugh while also identifying and implementing strategies to ensure we are all achieving our wildly important goals.
If I was a brand, I would be: Etsy. Every organization and product has a story to tell, and each one is so unique. By leveraging creativity and sharing each story, we can make a huge impact.
In my spare time, I like to: In my spare time you can find me with my husband riding single track, playing with my dogs Gertrude and Ludwig van Corgi, and going on as many adventures as I can.
Jill is the Account Manager at Big Buzz. Jill studied at the University of North Florida, receiving a degree in Communications with a minor in Photography. Upon graduating, Jill worked at a clothing manufacturer where she assisted in developing brand identity and digital content for emerging clothing brands, artists and businesses. A love for brand development and strategic thinking led her to start her career in healthcare marketing. Jill is devoted to connecting organizations with their audiences in an effective and meaningful way. She values her clients, always prioritizing them and their businesses.
One word to describe me, and why: Intentional. In my personal and professional life, I work at being mindful and focus on the good and the great!
If I was a brand, I would be: Converse. Collaborative, versatile and resilient.
In my spare time, I like to: listen to music, support my local Pho restaurants, and roller-skate through Denver’s many parks!
Bobbie is the Executive Assistant at Big Buzz. Bobbie is a semi-native to Colorado, moving to Denver from every corner of the east coast when she was 12. She graduated from the University of Colorado with a BA in Sociology in 1993. After several years of working as a Criminal Justice counselor, Bobbie launched her professional career in Office Administration, where she’s happiest assisting her coworkers and clients alike.
One word to describe me, and why: Approachable. I’ve never met a stranger.
If I was a brand, I would be: Nike – Distinguishable, Innovative and Daring
In my spare time, I like to: Listen to music, see live music, and travel the country for music. (I really love music!) On the rare occasion I am home, you can find me binge-watching, putting final parenting touches on my new HS graduate and laughing at the best dog ever, Chester.
Brianne is the Marketing Project Manager at Big Buzz, responsible for executing projects on time and on budget. Brianne studied at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with a major in Marketing. Her experience working closely with business owners and marketing teams has allowed her to see unique opportunities for effective workflows and has since developed her passion for project management. She works closely with the Big Buzz team to consistently deliver high-quality projects for each and every client.
One word to describe me, and why: Resourceful. I enjoy being a creative problem solver with processes and life in general. There are always different ways to approach situations more positively and effectively!
If I was a brand, I would be: Muji. Environmentally conscious. Minimalist. Transparent.
In my spare time, I like to: Listen to and play music whether that be with my instruments or vocal covers, I can really get lost in it. Other than music, I enjoy reading, hosting get-togethers, and exploring new vegan restaurants around my city and beyond!
Stephanie Vecchiarelli is the Creative Director at Big Buzz Stephanie has experience throughout the realm of digital and print design including a focus on user experience and user interface design. She works hard at Big Buzz to harness the full power of design, beginning with strategic thinking and problem-solving which results in projects becoming visually communicated through a strong and powerful message. A love for typography, album covers and concert posters inspired her career path and motivated her to gain higher education in design. Stephanie received her B.F.A. in Communication Design from Metropolitan State University in 2017 and started her career through an internship with Big Buzz in the same year. Now, she enjoys a full-time position where she excels collaborating with her team members to help bring clients real results through graphics that communicate their brand in ways that will align with their customers’ values and aspirations.
One word to describe me, and why: Curious – I love to make time for curiosity during all the craziness of life, it keeps me present, engaged and creative.
If I was a brand, I would be: Ikea; modern, accessible and personable. I like to think that the success of my creative work, like Ikea’s, can be achieved by combining function and quality design.
In my spare time, I like to: Be at home working on paper crafting projects, reading novels, playing instruments, and painting. Outside of my home, I love spending time in the beautiful CO outdoors hiking and camping, playing table-top strategy games with friends, or at concerts supporting local Denver music.
Evan Franklin is the Marketing Copywriter at Big Buzz. Born in Chile and raised in Western New York, he moved to Colorado to finish his education, graduating from Metropolitan State University with a degree in Marketing. Evan uses his passion for writing to create exciting and engaging content for every variety of client while staying true to the voice of their brand.
One word to describe me, and why: Content. It’s a homonym! I’m peacefully happy in my life and my work and I love producing great content for our clients.
If I was a brand, I would be: Bandcamp. Versatile, forward-thinking and musically inclined.
In my spare time, I like to: Hang out with my dog Humphrey, play and listen to music, see live music and generally enjoy everything Colorado has to offer.
